Upper West Minister calls for immediate confirmation of Sissala DCE

Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister has appealed to members of the Sissala West District Assembly to immediately mobilize and confirm Mr. Moses Dramani Luri, the newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) to facilitate the speedy development of the District.

He said this was an election year and many developmental activities would take place in the district but noted that, without a DCE the pace of development could be slowed.

Alhaji Sulemana made the appeal when he paid courtesy calls on the Paramount Chiefs of Zini and Gwollu in the Sissala West District as well as Tumu and Wellembelle traditional areas in the Sissala East District.

Alhaji Sulemana who visited the chiefs to introduce himself to them as the new Regional Minister, underscored the important role of chiefs in development.

The Regional Minister appealed to the chiefs to ensure that all their people who were of 18 years and above came out to participate massively in the new biometric voter registration exercise which would start on Saturday, March 24.

Alhaji Sulemana also appealed to the chiefs to talk to the youth, to refrain from any acts or behavior that had the tendency to cause violence in the 2012 elections.

He called on all to support the government by giving it a second term in office so that the “Better Ghana Agenda” would be fully executed to make living more comfortable for Ghanaians.

Kuoro Barecheh Nlowie Baninye II, Divisional Chief of Niator and Acting President of the Buwa Traditional Council, commended the government for giving them their share of the National cake, especially in the area of education infrastructure.

He reiterated their appeal for the establishment of a Technical/Agric Senior High School (SHS) and the extension of electricity to many communities in the district especially the Buwa Traditional Area.

At Gwollu, Kuoro Abudu Bukari, Chief of Lipilme who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Gwollu, Kuoro Kuri Limann Buktie, commended the government for giving the district a Senior High School.

He urged the Regional Minister to ensure the speedy completion of the structures to enable them to admit the first batch of students next academic year.

He also appealed for the tarring of the Gwollu town roads and the up-grading of the Gwollu Health Center into a District Hospital to enable it to meet the health needs of the people.

Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton VI, Paramount Chief of Tumu Traditional Area appealed to the Sissala East District Assembly to release their Traditional Council Office which had been given to the District Magistrate Court to enable them to hold their Traditional Council meetings and also for receiving of important visitors.

At Wellembelle, Kuoro Bakanworun Dimah Atta, Chief of Mwanduonu who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief of the Wellembelle Traditional Area, Kuoro Mumuni Dimbie reminded the Regional Minister about their appeal for a new district and the extension of Electricity to Wellembelle and its surrounding villages.**
