Kwahu Kyidomhene and Chief of Pepease in the Kwahu East District of Eastern Region Nana Ayirepeh Bonsu Ababio has advised inhabitants who live outside the enclaves to visit their chiefs whenever they come home for the Easter celebration.

According to him, the natives must make good use of the Easter festival, spend time with their chiefs to support the community in developmental projects when the need arises.

Kwahu Easter has become a national festival, although its annual Easter celebrations in the Eastern Region of Ghana which makes it possible for people including foreigners from all walks of life and all nationalities to throng to the Kwahu Hills every year to celebrate the three-day-long holiday.

This particular festival is celebrated in almost all the Kwahu communities, a festival of the Chiefs and the people which comes off every year.

In an exclusive interview with Agoo news Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor (K-Lover) at Abene palace on Thursday March 29, 2018 Nana Ayirepeh Bonsu Ababio said, in Ghana every clan has an identity saying the chief represents the identity of the various tribes.

He expressed worry over the manner in which some natives of Kwahu perceive chiefs, a situation where others may not value their empire urging them to respect Nananom (chiefs) so far as chieftaincy is concerned.

‘It seems the people of Kwahu do not understand a ‘kingdom’ and for that matter most of them show disrespect to the chiefs,’ he said.

Moreover, Abene Krontihene Nana Simpeh Owiredu III said, the Kwahu Easter festival serve as a purpose of bringing together the people of Kwahu who have travelled for a very long time, to resolve family disputes and other matters although it’s a Christian festival to mark the death of Jesus Christ.

According to him, the Kwahu Easter festival should not be subjected to alcoholism and indecent character which does not suit the good image of the land.
