Use Soccer To Unite People - Abbam-Quaye

Awutu-Bawjiase (C/R), Aug.12, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye, has said that soccer and other games could be used as effective tools for uniting the people for accelerated development.

He has therefore charged sub - structures like Unit Committees, Town, Area and Municipal Councils in the district to initiate steps to form at least one formidable Football club in their electoral areas. Mr Abbam-Quaye was addressing organizers of football clubs in Awutu-Bawjiase.

He said besides entertaining the people, formation of the clubs could be used as an effective tool for injecting a high sense of unity, fellow feeling and understanding among the citizenry. Mr Charles Aloe, Chairman of Bawjiase Area Council, appealed to well-placed citizens who live in the urban areas and the big cities, but hail from the countryside, to offer financial and material contributions towards the formation and development of football teams in the rural communities.

He commended the D.C.E. for the interest he had shown in colts' sports and asked him to provide them with the necessary logistics towards the improvement of the young football teams. He supported Mr Abbam-Quaye's views that the formation of such clubs would help the nation to discover hidden soccer stars.
