VCC prays Ghanaians to be peace-loving

The Ashanti Regional Voltarian Coordinating Council (VCC) has cautioned Ghanaians against utterances and behaviours that could be counter-productive to the stability and unity in the country.

"The Council is not happy at the trading of insults and the disrespect exhibited by some people towards leaders of the nation, especially on the air waves as we get closer to the 2012 elections."

A statement signed by Togbe Mawufeame Fugah, the President, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), indicated that peace and unity were indispensable to the progress of any nation.

It was therefore incumbent on the citizenry to continually work hard to protect the gains made under the Fourth Republican Constitution by promoting good neighbourliness and social harmony.

The statement said ensuring successful and incident-free elections called for a collective responsibility and that religious and traditional leaders as well as opinion leaders should constantly preach peace.

It reminded Ewes in the Region of the impending ‘’Amu Za’’ Festival which would be commemorated in the latter part of this year to promote unity amongst them.
