VOLU Assists ...

A-32 member Voluntary Work Camp Association of Ghana, is constructing a-three classroom block at a cost of 615 dollars donated by miss Christell Schillemans, 36 a volunteer from Holland for the people of Yam sae, a farming community in the Sunyani East Constituency in the Sunyani district.

The Volunteers were drawn from the following countries, Holland, Ghana, Italy, Spain and France. The Senior Minister commended the volunteers for their communal spirit and leaving their families in their various countries to assist the village communities in Ghana.

He urged Ghanaian to emulate the good example of the volunteers adding “we should not wait to expect manna from heaven.”

The senior Minister deplored the attitude of some contractors who execute shoddy works. He said this when the assemblyman for the area took him round to inspect a – six-classroom block put up not quite three years by Messrs Nimpong Co. Ltd. based in Sunyani which has started deteriorating.

He asked District Assemblies to properly supervise projects in their various districts stressing that donor agencies such as the EU would start withholding funds if they see that funds released for development projects are not properly utilized.

Hon. J.H. Mensah who was touring parts of his constituency also visited Kojo-Nsiakrom to inspect some village infrastructure projects and the newly built Sunyani Government Hospital.

Mr J.H. Mensah donated one million cedis to the volunteers as a morale booster. On his entourage was Hon. Yaw Adjei-Duffour, Deputy Minister for Brong Ahafo and some party activities
