Ho, May 17, GNA - Mr Mohammed Addoquaye, Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission on Monday said he was confident that the publicity given to the photo taking exercise in the Volta Region was enough to make it successful.
He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Ho that the region was segmented and targeted with the message and that he was sure everybody was aware that the exercise would commence on Tuesday, May 18 and end on Sunday May 23.
Mr Addoquaye said 2,000 cameras for the exercise had been moved to the region and all polling stations had already been supplied with a backup for emergencies, such as equipment failure.
He said the EC acknowledges the fact that some areas in the region were difficult to reach and would, therefore, find ways to get to those areas as quickly as possible in case of breakdown of the cameras. Regarding shortages of films as reported in some regions, Mr Addoquaye said the EC had sent enough of them to meet any unforeseen circumstances.
A total of 983,766 eligible voters were registered during the registration exercise in March, this year, according to provisional figures made available to the GNA in Ho by the regional directorate of the EC.
