VRA Board resolves impasse

The Volta River Authority (VRA) on Tuesday said an impasse between staff and the Chief Executive, Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby had been resolved following a meeting between the Staff Group Executives and the Chief Executive.

A statement issued in Accra said the Authority's Sub-committee on Staff Compensation and Industrial Relations, chaired by Daasebre Oti Boateng, mediated. It was held in the presence of Mr Tahir Hammond, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mr Kwabena Agyepong, Deputy Government Spokesperson and guided by the Authority's in-house grievance resolution process.

Dr Wereko-Brobby, Mr Ken Sackeyfio, National Chairman of the Senior Staff Association and George Okine, Chairman of the Divisional Union, signed the statement.

It said, "with the resolution of the impasse, the recent spate of intense media interest in the affairs of the VRA will subside and the usual peaceful and cordial relations within the Authority would be restored immediately."

There has been a series of stories on VRA critical of the Chief Executive's style of leadership and conversion of one of the floors of the main VRA building. A number of senior officers have been interdicted over the appearance of the stories in the press.
