One pupil of Archfield International School close to Kasoa in the Central Region has been confirmed dead and four others left with various degrees of injuries after a Honda Accord vehicle with Togo registration number GT 5244 AR run over them on Friday morning.
According to the police, the accident occurred on the main Kasoa-Nyanyano highway revealing that the suspect driver, Justina Tutu age 36 on reaching the junction of the main Kasoa-Nyanyano road, without due care and attention tried joining and in the process, she hit an oncoming vehicle from Kasoa towards Nyanyano and lost control of the steering wheel.
She then run over the 5 pedestrians including four pupils identified as Michelle Boateng age 6 years, Abraham age 4 years, Alvin Boateng age 2 years from one family, Daniella Willson 3 years and Emilia Quansah 32 years an apple seller.
Michelle Boateng 6, died on the spot whilst the four others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Winneba Municipal hospital for treatment.
The body of Michelle Boateng has been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.
The vehicle has also impounded at the station for testing and examination while the suspect driver is in police custody.
