Veterans observe Remembrance Day in Cape Coast

Cape Coast, Nov. 11, GNA - Members of the Central regional branch of the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG) on Thursday, observed the Remembrance Day with a solemn parade at the cenotaph in front of the Cape Coast Castle.

Security personnel made up of 157 men and led by an officer, Captain Robert Talleh from the 64 Infantry Regiment of the 2BN in Takoradi participated in the parade.

The security agencies included the Police, Fire and Prisons Services, the armed forces, and the Cadet Corp of the Adisadel College. Four wreaths were laid in remembrance of the fallen heroes, who laid down their lives for the country.

The Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze laid a wreath on behalf of the government and people of Ghana, while the Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area also laid one for the chiefs and people in the region. Sergeant Jerome Quaye, regional chairman of VAG laid on behalf of the veterans and the Cape Coast District Police Commander, laid one for the security agencies.

Christian, Muslim and traditional prayers were said for the departed souls and also for peace and development for the government and people of Ghana.
