Vice - President Inaugurates Committees On Salary Implementation

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 24, Sept. Vice-President John Evans Atta Mills said today that government is determined to remove all anomalies in the pay structure of the public service. ''Government recognizes that if people do work of equal worth, then in the name of equity, they must get the same pay,'' Professor Mills said at the inauguration of two committees to monitor and assess the impact of the Price Waterhouse Report on salary rationalization of civil and public servants. The nine-member Public Sector Coordinating and Monitoring Committee (PUSCOMOC) headed by Mr E.A. Sai, Chairman of the Public Services Commission (PSC), will monitor the progress of work in the implementation of the Report. Other members of PUSCOMOC include Mr Frank Ocran, Executive Chairman of State Enterprises Commission, Mr Daniel Amamoo, Acting Chief Executive of Prices and Incomes Board, and Dr Francis Agble, Vice-Chairman of PSC. The other body is the 17-member Public Awareness Programme Group (PAPROG) with membership from all stakeholder organizations, including Civil Servants, Nurses, Teachers and Judicial workers. PAPROG will ensure that those who will benefit from the Report are kept abreast of changes in the implementation procedure and given the opportunity to dialogue on the changes.
