Patrick Osei-Agyemang, popularly known as Countryman Songo, host of ‘Fire for Fire’ on Adom FM has apologized for his ‘harsh’ words thrown at Mrs Charlotte Osei, Electoral Commissioner of Ghana.
In an emotional apology, Songo, on his knees, described his action as unfortunate and uncalled for. He explained that he did that all for a better Ghana.
“I’m very emotional today, women are our baby girls, we don’t talk bad or harsh against them. It’s very unfortunate that I fired at EC boss, Mrs Charlotte Osei. Many and fantastic apology goes to the EC boss. I was so emotional, it was all for the better Ghana Agenda. To all my fans, listeners, viewers, I’m so sorry…”.
Yesterday, the ‘Fire man’ as fondly called threw jabs at Mrs Charlotte Osei, Electoral Commissioner of Ghana, and former Transport minister Mrs Dzifa Attivor for what he describes as gross incompetence exhibited by the two women.
Songo, flaming with anger, alleged that Mrs Osei is dumb and incompetent to be appointed as Ghana’s Electoral Commission but was placed there because of politics.
He demanded that Mrs Osei discloses the amount of money the EC spent on its recent rebranding, an exercise which has attracted public outrage over the commission’s new logo.
“You are not the one to decide who’s going to be president of Ghana. Mrs Charlotte Osei is dumb, incompetent and not good enough for position as the EC chair but, because of politics, she has been appointed… ‘Are you crazy, are you crazy, with all due respect, are you crazy?” he asked.
“How much of the tax payer’s money did you spend on the new logo of the EC? Tell Ghanaians the whole amount you used. You will be the cause of war after the elections…”
Jumping to Mrs Attivor’s recent comments which have been described as “tribalistic” and “unfortunate” Songo described the former transport minister as a thief.
Speaking at a launch of a group called 'Ketu South For Fifi And Mahama' in the Ketu South district of the Volta region Mrs Attivor said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a tribal party bent on prosecuting only Ewes and that if it wins power a lot of people from the Volta Region will be locked up in jail.
“When the NPP won power in 2001, most ministers who are Ewes were imprisoned, including Serlomey and Abodakpi and a host of other ministers. Does that mean that no individual from any other tribe has faulted in the discharge of their duties?” she asked in her native language.
“I want to remind you that it is your vote that will decide if Fifi Kwetey and I will be prosecuted and put behind bars or not”, she rallied.
She expressed comfort and confidence in the fact that the Volta region remains the stronghold of the ruling party.
