The Deputy Defence Minister, Major retired Derrick Oduro, has rejected claims that the upsurge in vigilantism is an indication that government has lost control of the security situation, adding that no country in the world can boast of 100 percent security.

Former President John Mahama has accused the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government of reaping the fruits of vigilantism which it sowed while in opposition.

"When you sow the wind, you reap a whirlwind!",” Mr. Mahama wrote on his Facebook account on Sunday. “Political ‘vigilantism’ is spiraling out of control and government doesn’t appear to be able to deal with the situation,” the former President taunts.

However, speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, The Deputy Defence Minister, Major (Rtd) Derrick Oduro explained that the NPP government has not lost control of the country’s security system.

According to him, security is every government’s topmost priority and the NPP is doing their best to make any form of security threats including vigilantism a thing of the past.

He expressed disappointed in the former president for conveying his grievance on Facebook other than seeking explanation from the appropriate quarters.
