Vigilantism being instigated by Akufo-Addo - Former DCE

Former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Regional, Hon. Donkor Fusieni has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of instigating vigilante groups within the party to perpetuate the violence being recorded in some parts of the country.

In a fortnight, there have reports of series of rampages involving youth groups of the party who in protests of certain decisions taken by the party have resorted to violence.

According to the former DCE, he is not surprised youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are attacking government officials and state institutions to press home their demands for jobs.

He explained that prior to the 2016 polls, the leadership of NPP envisaged violence if they were not declared winners over the then ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and prepared their youth for it.

“The fact is that from the NPP leadership to the flagbearer to party executives even within this region prepared their youth for war”, Donkor Fuseini alleged on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

“They started arming and training their youth in Sekyere Afram Plains where I was DCE”, he told host Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin during panel discussion.

“They trained them on weapon handling to kill supporters of NDC. . I am telling you for a fact and this is not politics”, the then chairman of e District Security Committee revealed.

According to aspiring Ashanti Regional Communication Officer of NDC, these mercenaries are the ones who have turned against government for promises made to them and now attacking appointees and state institutions.
