Accra, March 2, GNA - Francis Kwesi Oduro Bediako, a Businessman, who defrauded one Alice Teye, of an amount of 3,300 Euros under the pretext of securing him a German visa, appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Bediako pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the presiding judge, Mrs Elizabeth Ankumah, granted him bail, in the sum of 40 million cedis, with one surety to be justified.
He is to reappear on Thursday, March 11.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector George Abavelim said between the months of July and August 2003 the accused person collected 3,300 Euros from the complainant's brother, one Thomas Teye, who is in Germany, through another person called Addai.
Chief Inspector Abavalim said this was to conclude a promise made by the accused person that he could secure a German visa for Alice if that amount was paid him.
The Prosecution said the accused failed to fulfil the promise and a report was made to the Police.
