Vodafone Ghana, has presented cash and a number of items to the Ho Asogli Traditional Area towards the celebration of the Ho Asogli Yam Festival which, comes off this week end.
The items consist of 10 fully-connected mobile phones, GHC100.00 airtime, two Vodafone Modems, and two bottles of Schnapps. The rest are 100 branded T-shirts, 50 baseball caps, pens, clocks and stress balls.
Torgbi Kasa, Chairman of the Planning Committee congratulated Vodafone Ghana for committing to be part of the Asogli Yam Festival for the second year running with huge support, which in his words is significantly going to broaden the collaboration between the traditional area, the people and the entire region at large.
He said the decision by Vodafone to sponsor the Miss Asogli Beauty Pageant will enhance the standard of the event and bring knowledge and the beauty of the area to the outside world.
Making the presentation, Mr. Michael Tuffuor-Ampem, Trade Marketing Coordinator Vodafone Ghana said Vodafone's collaboration with the Asogli Traditional area underlines the company's roots with the culture and way of life of the people of Ghana.
He noted that for the first time in the history of festival sponsorship in Ghana, Vodafone will continue with its innovative Vodafone Village Concept at which we officials would be registering SIM cards, games, sale of Vodafone products and services.
There will be an opportunity at the Village for a representative of the traditional area to recount the history and tradition, socio-economic trends of the area. There will also be entertainment such as street carnival, floats, street jams, film show and a platform for people of the town to exhibit their economic talents with artifacts.
"The Vodafone Village will be a one-stop shop for fun, music, films for all who will throng the Village. Visitors to the festival can obtain solutions to all of their telecommunication needs and a pool of telecom experts to attend to your special needs."
Mr. Tuffuor-Apem said Vodafone was not only interested in just providing telecommunications solutions but also ensure that the solutions go to improve the lives of the people of the area.
A programme released by the Planning Committee said the event is over two weeks but has the Opening of the Vodafone Village, Street jam and a Jam in the evening on Friday September 24, a Miss Asogli Beauty Pageant and a Grand Durbar at which Torgbi Afede will sit in state is listed for Saturday with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday.
