Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V, the Paramount Chief of the Abutia Traditional Area and President of the Abutia Traditional Council in the Volta Region, has given a thumbs up to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for developing his area.
Without mincing words, he stated emphatically that his community, during the last 25 years, has witnessed massive transformation under NPP administrations, so he is eternally grateful to the NPP for having the development of Abutia at heart.
He said it’s not only the current Nana Akufo-Addo government that has played significant roles in developing his community, explaining that the John Agyekum Kufuor administration also embarked on landmark projects in his community.
“Yes, it’s true that for the past 25 years, I will say that the NPP has done well for Abutia,” Togbega Kodzo Gidi V emphasized when Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, visited his palace on Sunday.
The revered traditional leader pointed out that his fair comments about the NPP government’s performance in his area during the last 25 years are factual. Therefore, he would not be worried even if it sparks media debate in the country in the coming days.
“I know these factual comments will spark media debate that Togbega said this, but I’m not worried because I’m saying the truth. That’s the fact on the ground. The stool of Abutia has benefited from the NPP for the last 25 years, and we are very grateful.”
Still showering tons of praise on the NPP for contributing immensely to the development of his traditional area, he said, “This one is not about politics,” reiterating that all the NPP administrations have remained truthful and loyal to Abutia.
Significantly, Napo was at Abutia to pay homage and also congratulate Togbega Kodzo Gidi V for attaining 25 years on the throne. He was accompanied by NPP stalwart Madam Elizabeth Ohene, his campaign team members, and NPP members.
Togbega Kodzo Gidi V, who clearly is impressed with Napo’s outstanding performance in government, prayed that Napo’s great ambition of becoming the Vice President of Ghana on December 7, 2024, would become a reality.
“My prayer is that you ascend to the Vice Presidency,” the traditional leader assured Napo, indicating that the NPP vice presidential candidate is part of Abutia, so he should remember his traditional area when his dreams eventually come to pass.
The traditional leader also cautioned NPP members to do away with complacency and rather unite and work hard to retain power, saying, “Your party people should work hard, unite as one family, avoid internal wrangling and backbiting among themselves.”
Togbega also advised the NPP to adopt a house-to-house campaign strategy so that they could thoroughly explain the good works of their government to the electorate, noting, “Do well to push the base in order to ensure victory.”
Madam Elizabeth Ohene, who is a native of Abutia, urged the people in the Volta Region to reciprocate the NPP’s deep love for the area by voting massively for Dr. Bawumia on December 7.
