Voluntary Organisation Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Accra, (Greater Accra) 5 Nov., A 25-member delegation of the Overseas Friendship Force, an International voluntary organisation, has arrived in the country to take part in the 20th anniversary of the association's exchange programmes. The American-based association which is now spread throughout the world, aims at promoting peace and understanding among members. It is also to create the opportunity for learning about different countries, their people, political and economic systems. The group, mostly retired people, met their Ghanaian counterparts, Friendship Force of Akosombo (TFFAK), in Accra today and were briefed on Ghana, its people, culture, political and economic systems as well as on tourism potentials and programmes for the aged. Mr J.E. Allotey-Pappoe, Secretary of TFFAK, said Ghana is one of the 10 Africa-member countries the group visited. He said during such exchange visits, members are accommodated with friends and families of club members to learn about the lives of people in the host country. Mr Allotey-Pappoe said the group, which will be staying for 14 days, will visit Somanya, Akosombo, Cape Coast and Kumasi.
