Vote for Kufuor to complete his work - Minister

Mamponteng (Ash), Dec 02, GNA - Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has called on all eligible voters to vote for President Kufuor to enable him complete his work. He said this was very crucial because ''there is no reward for work not completed.''

Mr Boafo said this when he launched the Kwabre District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme at Mamponteng on Tuesday.

The Regional Minister told all those who have negative ideas about the scheme to have a change of mind and register with the scheme. Dr Kofi Asare, Ashanti Regional Director of Health Services, said members of the scheme, after paying their premiums, would enjoy free health services.

He asked the people not to undermine the scheme by reporting very minor cases for treatment but should prevent getting certain diseases so that the premium can be accumulated to sustain the scheme. "Let us work on environmental sanitation in our communities and this will help to reduce preventable disease", Dr Asare said. Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive, said nine health facilities in the district have been given the accreditation status to offer services for the scheme.

He said the assembly had built a maternity block at Afrancho and a new clinic and staff accommodation have also been built at Kenyase to promote the scheme.

"Plans are well advanced to get modern medical equipment to keep the Asonomaso hospital on track. A new theatre is being constructed at the Asonomaso hospital at a cost of 356.9 million cedis", he added. Nana Opoku Agyeman, Adwumakase-Kesehene, urged the people not to politicise the scheme but should co-operate and help the scheme to succeed in the district.
