Vote for NPP in appreciation of my nomination - Bawumia

Nalerigu (N/R), Aug. 27, GNA - Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice Presidential nominee of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to the electorate in Northern Ghana, particularly the Mamprugu area, to vote massively to return the Party to power in appreciation of his nomination.

He said the NPP had the goodwill and all that it takes to improve the fortunes of the country.

Dr Bawumia made the appeal on Tuesday at Nalerigu in the East Mamprusi District when he addressed the chiefs and the people of the Mamprugu Traditional Area as part of his seven-day tour of Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.

He was accompanied by his wife Samira and NPP executives, including National Chairman Peter Mac-Manu.

Others on the entourage were Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister; Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing; Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Campaign chairman; Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister of Women and Children's Affairs; Dr Konadu Apraku, Campaign director and Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen Jawula, a leading member of the NPP.

They were met on arrival by an enthusiastic crowd at the Tamale Airport.

Dr Bawumia stopped briefly at Walewale in the West Mamprusi District where he visited his father's grave before proceeding to Nalerigu.

Addressing a large crowd at Nalerigu, Dr Bawumia said the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme, the school feeding programme and the Capitation grant were visible indicators that would convince Ghanaians to return the NPP to power.

He said secondary education under Nana Akufo-Addo would be free while pragmatic measures would be put in place to improve farming and that youth unemployment would continue to be addressed. Dr Bawumia appealed to the traditional rulers to pray for him to succeed so that his nomination by the NPP party would be justified.

Alhaji Idris said Dr Bawumia's nomination to partner Nana Akufo-Addo was a victory not only to the people of Mamprugu but for all Northerners and Muslims in the country and urged them to vote massively in December in favour of the Party.

Alhaji Boniface called for sustained unity within the NPP to ensure that power did not elude it in December.
