Nana Akufo-Addo has begged the people of the Ashanti Region to come out in their numbers on 7 December to vote massively for him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) saying their support is very crucial for the party’s victory.
"I need the help of Asanteman. NPP needs the help of Asanteman in this year's elections. I appeal to all persons of voting age in Asanteman to come out in their numbers to vote for me and the party on 7 December," Mr Akufo-Addo said at a press conference on Wednesday, 30 November in the Ashanti Region, the traditional stronghold of the NPP since the inception of the fourth republic.
He said it was needful for the people of Asanteman to make their presence felt in Ghana's democratic dispensation since "the current suffering" being endured by Ghanaians resulted from bad voting choices.
"The suffering of Ghanaians is all due to how we voted so voting is very crucial and Asanteman, the most populous region in the country, must please go out in your numbers and vote on the day of the election.
"Your support is very crucial in getting the Elephant to Jubilee House. The NPP's policies will create jobs, stabilise the cedi, stabilise the economy," the three-time flag bearer said.
Mr Akufo-Addo is battling six other candidates for the presidency. His main contender is President John Mahama of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) who is seeking his second and final four-year term.
