Presidential and Parliamentary candidates wishing to transfer their vote from one polling station to another can do so beginning on Monday, August 15, 2016, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced.
The exercise which is expected to last till Friday, August 19, 2016, is restricted to candidates wishing to contest the December 7 general elections.
“Candidates who wish to transfer their votes from the polling station where they registered to a different polling station, are required to visit the District Office of the Commission in the constituency where they wish to vote, to complete the vote transfer application form to be processed for the transfer”, a statement from the EC dated August 13, 2016, and signed by its Head of Communications, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu said.
Those candidates, the EC added, must be a registered voters and a resident in the constituency other than that in which he/she registered for not less than 12 months.
That aside, the prospective candidate, the EC added, must provide physical proof of his/her new residence, including the residential address.
“If successful, the voter shall be assigned to a new polling station in his/her new constituency of residence”.
