Chaos rocked the Okaikwei Central Collation Center as frustrated voters reportedly destroyed election machines amid growing tensions over the vote-counting process.

The incident occurred after delays in the collation of results, with some voters expressing dissatisfaction with the transparency of the process.

Eyewitnesses say a group of agitated voters, upset over what they perceived as irregularities, confronted election officials.

The situation quickly escalated, leading to the destruction of several voting machines, which were used for the electronic tallying of votes. Security personnel were called to restore order, and the center was temporarily closed to allow for a review of the situation.

Local authorities and the Electoral Commission have yet to provide an official statement on the incident, but sources confirm that an investigation is underway. It is unclear whether the destroyed machines will delay the final results from the Okaikwei Central constituency.

The Electoral Commission has reiterated its commitment to a transparent and fair election process, urging the public to remain calm and patient as the situation is resolved.
