The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has opened a short notice registration for WASSCE for Private Candidates, from 17th to 31st July 2018 for the benefit of candidates
Mr Jonas Agyai-Odame, the Controller for Private Candidate Examination, told the Ghana News Agency that the registration was meant for students, who might have failed one or two subjects in the just released WASSCE results to the benefit of those, who could not register during the regular period.
He said Candidates registering would be allocated examination Centres in their regional capitals only and fees payable by the Candidates are as follows; six or more subjects GH¢564.00, five subjects GH¢536.00 and four subjects GH¢508.00,
Others are; three subjects GH¢474.00, two subjects GH¢454.00, one subject GH¢434.00, Project/Practical GH¢76.00 and Oral (French/English) GH¢54.00.
The 2018 results released by WAEC showed that candidates, who obtained grades A1 to C6 in the three core subjects (Core Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science) were; Core Mathematics – 120,519, representing 38.33 percent; English Language – 147,232, representing 46.79 percent; and Integrated Science – 158,691, a score of 50.52 percent.
The number of candidates, who failed to obtain grades A1 to C6 in the three core subjects were; Integrated Science – 155,436, representing 49.48 percent; Mathematics – 193,882, which represented 61.67 percent; and English Language – 167,404, which also represented 53.21 percent.
