The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Friday released the provisional results of private candidates who took the 2018 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The Council said the results had been posted online and candidates could access their results on its website.

A statement signed by Mrs Agnes Teye Cudjoe, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs of WAEC, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said seven candidates, however, have had their entire results withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged examination malpractices.

The statement explained that the results of the seven candidates would be released as soon as the Council concludes its investigations.

A total of 11,886 candidates, made up of 6,886 males and 5,000 females, sat for the examination in 41 centres throughout the country.

The BECE for private candidates is to enable those who desire to improve on their grades as well as others who have never written the examination but desire to pursue formal education to register and sit for the examination.
