Wa Central MP to appear before constituents for assessment

Wa, Nov. 21, GNA - Mr Rashid Pelpuo, Member of Parliament (NDC) for Wa Central, has declared his intention to submit himself to his constituents in January next year to assess his performance and achievements of his one year in parliament as their representative. To this end, a number of public forums would be held in Wa and other parts of the constituency to offer the people the opportunity to subject him to a wide range of questions regarding his performance and achievements, as their Member of Parliament.

Mr Pelpuo made this known at Wa, when he interacted with newsmen on the sidelines of the NDC regional delegates congress held on Saturday. This, he said would enable him to know how he had fared in the opinion of the people he represents, so as to guide him in the three remaining years of the first term of parliament.

Mr Pelpuo also briefed the newsmen on his recent visit to the United States, where he met and held discussions with a cross section of people from his constituency, resident in North Texas.

He said he impressed upon them, the need to make periodic visits home as well as the need to invest part of their earnings back home, so as to help create job and wealth for the people.

He disclosed that he had utilized 42 million cedis out of his share of the Common Fund to provide cement for the rehabilitation of some schools.

These include the Mangu, Idahiya, and Limanyiri primary schools. Mr Pelpuo said he had also provided 15 solar lamps at a cost of 11.7 million cedis for Sing, Charia, Bussa and Boli communities, which are not yet connected to the national electricity grid.

He also distributed 15,000 exercise books among a number of primary and junior secondary school pupils in the constituency.
