A Circuit Court at Wa in the Upper West Region has convicted a 19-year old laborer, Muniru Abubakar 19 to a fine of GH¢300 for stealing a motorbike worth GH¢2000 or in default spend four years in prison with hard labour.
The accused pleaded guilty to all the counts of conspiracy to commit crime, wrongful entry and stealing.
Four other accused persons involved in the case however pleaded not guilty and have been remanded in prison custody to re-appear on September 4, 2017.
Pronouncing the judgment the Circuit Court judge, Justice Baah Forson Agyepong said he took into consideration of the fact that convict did not waste the time of the court.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Daniel Yaboah told the court that on the 14th of July 2017, a complainant, Jibilik Kasim Yendube, a student of UDS parked his motorbike in his veranda in the evening but the bike was stolen by morning.
On his return from a journey to Bamboi in the Northern Region Mr Yendube saw his stolen motorbike parked at a fitting shop at Maluwe, a village near Tinga.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of the five persons.
