GNA - The Wa Municipal Assembly has received a District Development Fund allocation of 433,505.04 Ghana cedis which would be used to fund the construction of school buildings, public toilets and the provision of furniture for the schools. Communities that would benefit from the school projects are Kadoli, Sakafatu, Konjiehi, Tangaju and Wa Model School while Dobile, Wa Women's Training Institute, Konbiehi, Sokpayiri and Mangu would be provided with public toilets.
Mr. Duogu Yakubu, the Municipal Chief Executive, who spoke at the second ordinary meeting of the assembly at Wa on Wednesday, said the municipality had also been given 19,683.53 Ghana cedis for capacity development.
He said the assembly was getting this boost to its development budget at a time when it realized only 98,175.35 Ghana cedis as revenue from January to July which is below the 213,950.00 Ghana cedis it projected to collect.
Mr Yakubu said the assembly has revived the rural kerosene project that had been abandoned since 2004 and in addition to the 15 tanks located in zonal communities the project would be expanded to include solar lamps.
