Wa NPP Youth Reject President’s Nomination.

THE Wa Central Constituency Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed concern about the cancellation of the nomination of Mr Yakubu Adams as the Wa District Chief Executive and his subsequent replacement with Godfrey Bayong Tangu.

In a 10-point petition to President John Agyekum Kufuor, the NPP youth wing called for the immediate re-nomination of Mr Adams as the Wa DCE in the interest of peace and fair play in the district.

The petition was jointly signed by Messrs Adamu Salifu, Abubakari Salia, Abu Bomisoon and Musa Sumaila, Secretary, Organiser and trustee respectively of the youth wing.

The petition said Mr Adams is not only a committed member of the NPP but also an affable and knowledgeable personality who can transform the living standards of people in the district.

It described Mr Tangu as an unknown entity who has no public support whatsoever and cannot organise the NPP to win the constituency seat in the 2004 parliamentary elections.

“ Mr Tangu could not even manage the Goripe Primary School in his constituency , how much more the whole Wa District?” the petition stated , adding that he was only being supported by a few misguided personalities.

It said the rank and file of the party in the region have lost confidence in the regional chairman, Mallam Abdulai Issahaque, and called for his immediate resignation.

The petition said the youth wing of the party is aware that the current development that seems to be undermining the party, is being fanned by Alhaji Alhassan Bin Salih , a Member of Council of State designate, and his brother, Mr Ahmed Bin Salih of the Office of the President. The petition said the two are fanning anti-Ahmadi sentiments among the membership of the party.

It, therefore , called on the President to re-examine his close affinity with the two personalities since they are capable of providing with him with information that might not represent the situation on the ground.

The petition expressed the hope that the President would give serious attention to the issues raised to avert further acts that would weaken the front of the party in the constituency.

Receiving the petition from Mr Salifu, the Secretary of the youth wing, the Regional Minister , Mr Sahanun Mogtari, assured the aggrieved persons that the petition would be forwarded to the President.

Present at the meeting were the new Regional Police Commander, Mr E.B. Ansong; the Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent George Appiah; the new BNI Director, Mr Kwaku Duah, and Mr George Anaba, Regional Co-ordinating Director.

It would be recalled that the NPP Youth Wing in Wa the Central Constituency staged a violent demonstration last Saturday over the nomination of a new DCE during which the party’s two Niva Vehicles were burnt beyond repairs.
