The Wa High Court has quashed the suspension of the Rector for Wa Polytechnic, Professor Emmanuel Marfo, by the governing council of the school.

Justice Kwasi Boakye also ruled that the polytechnic use laid-down procedures of the institution to suspend the Rector.

He asked the governing council to award the Rector with GHS5,000 to cover the cost he incurred in filing the suit against the polytechnic.

Speaking to the media after the ruling, counsel for the Rector, who doubles as the Brong Ahafo Regional President of the Ghana Bar Association, Alfred Tuah Yeboah, expressed satisfaction about the ruling of the High Court, saying his client has been vindicated.

The Governing Council for the polytechnic declined to speak to the media after the ruling, saying they will meet their counsel to decide the next line of action against Professor Marfo, following a petition filed against him in April 2018, demanding his removal from office on allegations of misappropriation of funds and gross disrespect for staff of the institution.

The Rector has been accused of buying a car at a cost of GHS 500,000 for himself without the approval of the Governing Council.
