Wa West Assembly Members confirm District Chief Executive

Members of the Wa West District Assembly on Thursday confirmed President John Atta Mills nominee, Mr Dasaana N.S. Adamu as the District Chief Executive.

The 34 year old teacher polled 29 votes, which was more than the two-thirds majority needed to be confirmed out of the 39 member house.

Mr Adamu pledged not to let the President down in the implementation of policies and programmes of government to improve the livelihood of the people.

He noted that the District was among the poorest in the Upper West Region and needed more development projects to catch up with the well endowed ones.

Mr Adamu said the quest for development would not come in a silver platter if the people did not complement government’s efforts and also give peace a chance to sustain the process.

He therefore encouraged stakeholders in the district to bury their political differences and partner him to help bring development to the area to meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

“Let us all listen to the concerns of the people and work as a team to address them,” Mr Adamu said.

He appealed to the political parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns with civility in order not to jeopardise the peace of the area.

Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Regional Minister advised members of the assembly to put political colours aside and unite for the development of the district.

He said government would not relent in its efforts to develop the district to enhance the living conditions of the people.**
