The largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Region, has urged party supporters in the area, not to hesitate in retaliating with all the force they can marshal whenever they are attacked by supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the Regional Secretary of the party, Sule Salifu, NPP supporters should make sure they employ any means possible to protect themselves anytime they come under attack, adding that the party will not allow its members to be taken for granted by the NDC just because it is law abiding.

There was near bloodbath in Walewale almost a fortnight ago when supporters of the two main political parties clashed in Walewale township where two youth groups simultaneously launched their campaign activities.

These are the NPP’s Bawumia Youth for Change and the NDC’s Zaadiaya Youth group fronting for the Northern regional Minister who doubles as the party’s Parliamentary candidate for Walewale constituency, Abubakari Abdullah affectionately called Abuba.

Two NPP supporters sustained severe injuries one of when whom was attacked with a cutlass.

The NPP accused the NDC of deliberately organizing a counter rally closer to the venue of the Bawumia Youth for Change campaign launch, hence the clash.

Several days after the violence, the NPP is livid as they police in Walewale have failed effect any arrest after a complaint was lodged with them.

The Regional Secretary Sule Salifu has stated that the NPP will advise itself according if the police refuse to arrest the bother of the Regional Minister who instigated other NDC youth to cause the violence and eventually causing harm to the NPP supporters.

“We serve notice to all our constituencies that anytime their lives are under threat they should respond the manner in which they will to save themselves because the regional minister is not above the law, his brother is not above the law. His brother is the main architect of the brutalities that was visited on our people at Walewale and nobody has been arrested.

“I know that my Chairman will be officially reporting this to the Regional Police Commander. And if action is not taken we’ll serve a clear notice to all our constituencies that anytime a Minister’s brother or a DCE wife attacks you, attack the person back. We are not going to allow anybody to take us for granted.

“This election is a crucial one, the NPP will win the elections whether they like it or not. Im saying the Regional Police Commander should get his men in Walewale to take action t arrest the Minister’s brother. If that is not done they (Police) will find it very having the fullest corporation from the NPP in this region. We mean business, we know the President appointed the Regional Minister because of Dr Bawumia, Mamkpurugu will not give NDC one seat…they won’t get it whether the Minster is there or not. The Minister will not win the Walewale seat whether with violence or not, so if that is what they want to do in Walewale, I’m sure they don’t know that when it comes to propaganda and “bugabuga” the NPP regional Chairman does it better.”
