The Omanhen of Upper Dixcove, Obrempong Hima Dekyi III, who was being pursued by the Police in connection with the assault on his rival paramount chief turned himself into the law enforcement agency around 6:30 pm yesterday. His statement was taken in connection with the battery and abduction of his rival chief.
Kwesi Agyeman, Omanhen of Lower Dixcove and former vice president of the Western Regional House of Chiefs was battered by masked men and abducted, together with some four sub-chiefs to the palace of Upper Dixcove paramountcy on Monday.
It had to take police quick intervention to rescue the abducted Omanhen and his sub-chiefs. Following this, police declared the Upper Dixcove Omanhen wanted in connection with the abduction. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olivia Ewurabena confirmed through a text message to this reporter that Hima Dekyi has turned himself into the police without further comment.
Hima Dekyi, who spoke in a telephone interview with this reporter, confirmed honouring police invitation. “My hands are clean. I have no hand in the attack and abduction of Kwesi Agyeman,” he said.
According to him, he is not a coward to run away from crime, if he was involved in it.
“Everyone who knows me knows that I am not a coward. Honestly, I will own up and take responsibility if I have a hand in Kwesi Agyeman’s assault and abduction”.
Hima Dekyi, however, expressed worry over the attack on his subjects, following the assault and abduction of the lower Dixcove chief.
Hima Dekyi claims information he received indicated that his subjects were being attacked incessantly by people from Lower Dixcove.
