Warning On Sere Aqua Filtered Drinking water

Kumasi, Nov.10, GNA -The Ghana Food and Drug Board (FDB) has cautioned the public especially residents in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions not to consume "Sere Aqua Filtered Drinking water" packed in 0.5 litre and 1.5 litre bottles.

The products, manufactured by Jojem Pharmaceutical Limited according to the FDB, were found to contain some greenish microbial growth in them during a post-market surveillance activity at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region.

A release issued in Kumasi on Monday and signed by Mr Joseph Bennie, Zonal Officer of FDB said though the product and processes of manufacture had not been approved by the board as required by law, the company had embossed an FDB registration number on the package. The Board said, it was therefore, not in a position to guarantee the quality and safety of Sere Aqua Filtered Drinking water and advised the public to desist from patronising and consuming it.

It warned all sachet water producers who were illegally producing bottled water to desist from such activity or have themselves to blame. In a related development the Board has also warned the public that it cannot guarantee the quality and safety of Ken's Fresh Orange Juice produced by Ken's Farm Fresh Enterprise in Kumasi since the enterprise was not registered with it.

It assured the public that it was taking the necessary steps within its statutory mandate to ensure public safety at all times.
