Washington DC NPP elects new officers

THE Washington DC Metropolitan Area chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Mr Mohammed Ali Idris as its new Chairman .

This was the outcome of a congress held on October 28, to elect new officers to run the affairs of the chapter for the next three years.

Others elected include Messrs Albert Akwasi Owusu, First Vice-Chairman; Kwaku Asomani-Anim, Second Vice-Chairman; Collins Koduah, Secretary and Victor Konlan Laari, Treasurer.

The rest are Messrs Eric Opoku, Organiser; J.C. Attah Yeboah, Assistant Organiser and Victor Yeboah Sekyi, Publicity Officer.

The newly elected chairman of the party thanked the outgoing Chairman, Dr Kwame Barwuah-Edusei , for his hard work and leadership in the run-up to last year’s general elections.

Mr Idris also thanked party members for electing him as the new chairman and promised to embark on an aggressive membership drive in the area.

“Our immediate task will be to broaden the base of the party and also to explain government’s policies and programmes to the Ghanaian community in Washington,” he said.

Mr Idris pledged his commitment to the party and paid glowing tributes to founding fathers of the party in the Washington area.
