Wassa-Akropong Hospital receives an ambulance

Wassa-Akropong(W/R), Nov. 28, GNA - Madam Doris Oduro, Wassa Amenfi East District Chief Executive on Monday presented a mini bus ambulance to the Wassa-Akropong government Hospital.

The ambulance fitted with lifesaving equipment was a donation from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ghana Government.

Presenting the keys to the ambulance, Madam Oduro called on the hospital authorities to take good care of the facilities and equipment to ensure the people derived maximum benefits from them. She reiterated Government's commitment to enhance good governance, private sector and human resource development, and improved health care delivery for the people.

Dr Fredrick Yaw Sarpong, Medical Superintendent in charge of the hospital, receiving the keys said two drivers and a nurse had been trained to use the ambulance to prolong its life span.

He said presentation of the ambulance to the hospital was timely and would be used strictly for the intended purpose including provision of first aid to accident victims and conveying them to the hospital. Dr Sarpong told the Ghana News Agency that the ambulance was the first of its kind to be provided to the hospital since it was upgraded from a health centre in 1999.
