Tarkwa (W/R) Jan. 9, GNA - The Wassa West Health Insurance Scheme, has since its inception in July last year, registered over 4000 expectant mothers to enable them to benefit from the free medical care for pregnant women policy.
In an interview with the GNA in Tarkwa, Kojo Kwarteng of the Publicity Department of the Scheme, said in August last year alone, 1023 pregnant women registered with the Scheme. He said pregnant women received insurance cards the same day they registered and that apart from Tarkwa, women from Bogoso, Prestea and its environs were beneficiaries of the scheme. Mr Kwarteng said pregnant women were asked to produce medical report to support their claim. He explained that pregnant women who had already registered with the scheme before the introduction of policy had to renew their cards.
