Waste management is a major problem of Assemblies- DCE

Twifo Praso (C/R), Feb. 21, GNA - Mr. Joseph Foster Andoh, the District Chief Executive of the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, has said waste management was the major challenge of assemblies in the country because the= y do not have the capacity and requisite technology to manage waste. He appealed to Assemblies to partner their development partners to evolve measures to deal with waste.

Mr Andoh said this when he inaugurated sanitation equipment and a revenue pick up vehicle at Twifo Praso and added that the district assembly had embarked on measures to improve upon water and sanitation in the district.

On water, Mr. Andoh said Mfuom, Jukwa-Krobo, Wawase Morkwa and Hemang smal= l town water project have been completed. He said World Vision, Ghana, is supporting the Assembly to sink 10 boreholes for some communities in the district while the government has als= o embarked on an additional 12 boreholes for in the district. On electricity Mr. Andoh said many communities would soon be hooked to the National Electricity Grid.

Mr Andoh said the rehabilitation of Twifo Praso town roads and Twifo Praso/Cape Coast roads were on going and that the construction of steel bridges on the Donkodoko-Otukrom, Adugyaa-Kotokro and Ateiku-Bonsaho feeder roads were on course.

He said the Twifo Praso-Dunkwa=96on-Offin road has been awarded on contrac= t for major reconstruction. On education he said the assembly has awarded 28 school projects to eliminate schools held under trees.
