On Sunday, July 21, 2024, the family of the late former President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills, marked his 80th birthday by visiting his burial site in Accra.
As part of their visit, the family left a version of the Holy Bible, which, according to Samuel Koku Anyidoho, former Head of Communication at the Presidency during the Mills era, signified the late president's love for the word of God.
Reading from the book of Proverbs, Chapter 14, which was the page opened by the family before their departure, Koku Anyidoho, in a video sighted by GhanaWeb, expressed his profound love for his late boss and affirmed his commitment to protect his legacy.
"I know that I am walking on the path of righteousness, and the favour of God is upon me. To God be the glory now and always. Prof, you were a good man; you loved me, and I loved you. It's 12 years, no more weeping, no more sorrow. It is well. Your legacy will be protected, it is being protected, and from Wednesday 24th, higher heights and your enemies shall be put to shame. Rest well, Prof. Ghana will not die; Ghana will live to give glory to God, amen," he stated.
The Ekumfi Odomna family, led by Obaahemaa Nana Enifua III, Kyidomhemaa of the Odomna Ebusua, and Ebusuapanyin Kobina Biney, led the Clan Heads to the celebration held at the Asomdwe Park in Accra.
"We have now decided that after 12 years, we shall no longer remain in the shadows and allow our glory to be trampled upon by any group of persons. The mother of the late President Atta Mills was from the Odomna Ebusua of Asaman, with roots in Ekumfi Otuam, so let no one be deceived that the late president hails from elsewhere. He was our son via maternal lineage/bloodline inheritance, and no one can stop us from celebrating him," Nana Enifua III stated during the occasion on Sunday.
Ebusuapanyin Kobina Biney announced that the family shall return on July 23 and 24 to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the passing of Prof. Mills.
The late John Evans Atta Mills, born on Friday, July 21, 1944, was elected President of Ghana on December 7, 2008, and died at 68 while serving in office.
