The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made his first public appearance of the year with a grand entrance during the inaugural Awukudae festival of the new year.

A video posted by Asante Nation on X on January 2, 2025, captured the majestic arrival of Otumfuo and his entourage at the Manhyia Palace for the traditional sitting.

The video also showed traditional leaders paying their respects to Otumfuo's convoy at the palace, saluting his vehicle in reverence.

Otumfuo's grand entrance has since sparked massive admiration on social media, with many Ghanaians praising his leadership and the significant contributions he has made to the Ashanti Region and beyond.

The 2025 Awukudae festival drew prominent personalities from across the country to show their respect to Otumfuo and the people of the Ashanti Region.

The Awukudae festival is celebrated every six weeks on a Wednesday by the people and chiefs of the Asante Kingdom.

It is one of the two Adae festivals, the other being Akwasidae, which takes place on the third Sunday after Awukudae. Both observances are important ancestral rites performed by the chiefs and elders of the Akan clan around Kumasi.
