Member of Parliament for the Korley Klottey Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, paid homage to her late father, former President Jerry John Rawlings, by laying a wreath in his honour.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, December 30, 2024, during the commemoration of the 43rd anniversary of the 31st December Revolution in Nungua, Accra.
Channel One TV in Accra shared the moment on their official X (Formerly Twitter) page, captioning, "A heartfelt moment as Dr. Zanetor Rawlings lays a wreath in honor of her late father, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, at the 43rd anniversary of the 31st December Revolution."
A video accompanying the post showed Zanetor in the company of party officials from the constituency. She laid the wreath with solemnity, reflecting on her father’s enduring legacy.
The event, themed "Victory 2024: Time to Reset Ghana," reflects a pivotal moment in Ghana’s history.
On December 31, 1981, a coalition of military and civilian forces, led by Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings staged a revolution that overthrew the Hilla Limann government.
This marked the birth of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which was established to pursue the ideals of the revolution.
