A stunt rider had a close shave with death while attempting to impress a crowd at the Central Business District of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

A video shared on X by EDHUB shows the rider, who fortunately had a helmet on, speeding and raising the front part of his motorbike on a road that had been narrowed by pedestrians and hawkers.

As he performed the stunt, just about 50 meters from where he started, the rider landed but lost control of the motorbike, crashing onto the road and nearly hitting a pedestrian. His motorbike collided with a commercial mini bus parked nearby.

The speed at which he was moving caused him to be thrown off the motorbike and skid on the road for almost 30 meters, amidst shouts of "ei, ei, ei" from the crowd.
After getting back on his feet, he was seen checking on his body for possible injuries.

In February 2023, an "okada man" attempted a display on his motorbike but failed and lost his life on the Kasoa-Ofaakor road in the Central Region.

The young man, believed to be in his early thirties, was on his regular rounds at about 6:30 pm that fateful Sunday when he decided to exhibit his stunt riding skills, known locally as “adaga.”

Residents close to the scene said he was performing the stunt for some time but suddenly lost control of the bike, landed on the ground, and died instantly with blood gushing from his head.

Witnesses who rushed to the scene found him lying in a pool of blood. The man, nicknamed 'Enemies,' was riding without a crash helmet. He was well-known among 'okada' riders operating at a location called ‘Old Timers’ on the Kasoa-Ofaakor stretch.

A section of the public has expressed concern over reckless riding and the increasing spate of stunt riding by some motorbike owners, especially on weekends when the roads are somewhat less busy.
