It was a sight to behold at the airport on June 24, 1974, when an aircraft from Canada graced Ghana's tarmac to deliver a very unusual package - cattle.

The move, which was seen as a display of international cooperation from the Canadian government, marked a significant step in bolstering Ghana's agricultural sector.

In a video shared by Ghana Facts and History and sighted by GhanaWeb Business, some Ghanaian officials and farmers were captured during the arrival of the aircraft at Ghana to deliver the 45 cattle.

The airport marshallers were also seen directing the pilot on how to position the airplane so it could connect to an air bridge to transfer the cattle into a parked truck.

According to reports, the cattle were distributed to selected farms where the animals were to be crossbred with local varieties so as to multiply them in number.

"A herd of 45 cattle was flown from Canada to Ghana on Monday (24 June), 1974 as part of the Canadian Government's assistance to improve Ghana's dairy herds," Ghana Facts and History's post read.
