President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Monday, June 10, 2024, commissioned the 12-storey 'The Law House', which will provide office accommodation for the Office of the Attorney General and other agencies under the judicial arm of government in Accra.
The event was attended by stalwarts of Ghana’s Judicial System, including the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, and his deputies; the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo; and other members of the bench, as well as members of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), led by its president, Yaw Acheampong Boafo.
The event saw praises for the Attorney General and President Akufo-Addo for their determination to complete 'The Law House', and there were moments of laughter from the audience.
One such moment was when President Akufo-Addo was criticizing his predecessor, former President John Dramani Mahama, for referring to him (Akufo-Addo) as someone who clears all his appointees accused of corruption. Thus a "clearing agent".
It appears some members of the audience did not gauge how serious Akufo-Addo was when he slammed Mahama for referring to him as a "clearing agent".
The audience burst into laughter the moment Akufo-Addo taunted Mahama as a "perennial NDC presidential candidate".
The Chief Justice was trying to suppress her laughter as she could be seen with her hand covering her mouth, giggling.
GBA President Yaw Acheampong Boafo could also be seen giggling as he shook his head.
