Economic and social activities at Nkontomire and the surrounding areas near Mfensi in the Atwima district have virtually come to a standstill as a result of an acute water shortage that has hit the area.
The situation is so alarming that, most of the residents, predominantly cocoa farmers and teachers are infested with bilharzia and other water-borne diseases.
This came to light when Mr. Eddy Obeng-Darko, Atwima District Director of Education and officers from the directorate visited the are following a petition by teachers in the area complaining about the acute water problem facing them.
