Daily Guide -- ABOUT TWELVE members of the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament, have threatened to resign from the party, if the founder, Mr J.J. Rawlings, re-imposes the twice-defeated flagbearer, Prof John Evans Atta Mills, on the party.
"He is bad-luck, and can never win any election for the party, moreso, he has no presidential blood in his system", they protested.
The aggrieved MPs, who pleaded to remain incognito, for fear of retribution, condemned, in no uncertain terms, the recent unilateral nomination of the former Member of Parliament for Wenchi West, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, (also known as General Mosquito) by the founder of the party, as his preferred choice for the post of general secretary.
According to them, Mr Rawlings is using ?gpatapaa tactics?h, to have things done, his own way, and has defiantly refused to accept the established facts that he is solely responsible for the two presidential defeats of NDC under the flagbearership of Prof Mills.
They told Daily Guide, in Parliament, yesterday, that just as Mr Rawlings overthrew the constitution in 1981 through ?ga senseless military adventurism?h, he has, this time around, not only overthrown the party's constitution, but has also hi-jacked it, to suit his whims and caprices.
"We shall resign, if he goes ahead to impose Prof Mills on the party, because, this time, we cannot afford to stand the mental torture associated with losing elections, a third time".
The spokesman of the concerned MPs, who spoke with venom in his voice, recounted the spate of confusions that have rocked the, once upon a time flamboyant party, as a result of dictatorship, suspicion and mistrust. He contended that those developments were sure recipe for easy victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008.
Touching on the bad blood between Mr Rawlings and his one-time beloved man of integrity and chairman of the party, Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, the spokesman described the situation as "conflict between a dictator and a democrat". He intimated that in spite of the fact that former President Rawlings practised a kind of 'dictatorial-democracy' for eight years, he has stubbornly refused to learn, and to master the rules of the game.
The MPs condemned the intensions of former Independent Member of Parliament for Anlo, Mr Victor Gbeho, to challenge the incumbent national chairman of NDC, for his position.
?gThis smacks of greed, it is disastrous, as Mr Gbeho ceased to be a member of the party from the day he went independent?h, they protested, adding that, ?gHe is not even armed with organisational and leadership acumen, as Dr Asamoah. Concluding, the spokesman stated that ?gthe time has come for young and brilliant members of the party to play leadership roles to ensure victory for the party in 2008?h.
