"We Shall Kick Out NPP"

Mr. Ato Ahwoi, leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has observed that New Patriotic Party (NP) came to power through several demonstrations which made the then NDC administration unpopular. NDC would therefore reciprocate what NPP did in opposition so as to propel NDC also to power in the next general elections.

According to Mr. Ato Ahwoi, who is also the chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak football club, NDC has realised that issues, such as petroleum, which NPP trumpeted so much on rooftops, was only used as a matter of campaign strategy, so the NDC would also do likewise.

Mr. Ato Ahwoi who was commenting on President Kufuor's advise that issues of petroleum and its pricing policy should not be politicized on a newspaper review programme at Tarkwa in the Western Region, noted that the NDC, as a political party is no exception to what goes on in the country, since the ultimate goal of any political party is to win power. He observed that NDC would do all that was within its legitimate means to kick NPP from office, including even employing what their political opponents might perceive as ?wrong' tactics.

He described president Kufuor's advice on non-politicization of petroleum issues, while inaugurating a board for the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), as hypocritical, since he was the one who campaigned against increase in fuel prices, before the 2000 elections. He asked: Has the president soon forgotten about what he went to Cape Coast to say? He added that the President should not waste the time of Ghanaians, with a number of his comments, since such comments had the tendency to provoke them.
