The NDC Member of Parliament for Agona East, Hon Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyerr has added her voice to the possible passage of the Special Prosecutor Bill by the House of Parliament indicating that retained members of the National Democratic Congress are not scared of it.

Speaking in an interview when she met stakeholders and opinion leaders in her constituency on what transpired in Parliament before going on recess, the Agona East MP said what was topical on the agenda of Parliament was the passage of the Special Prosecutor’s Bill which according to her, is not a problem.

“I don’t think we have a problem with Special Prosecutor because we know we have done our part. Government come, government goes, and when you come you just have to make sure the right things are done,”

She believes that the passage of the Bill would not be used to torment former ministers of the NDC government but will be used as a tool to foster unity and the rule of law.

“That doesn’t mean you should torment your opponents, I don’t believe any member of the NDC is afraid. No NDC minister shall fear, we have done our bit. We are fine. I know myself, and I know my colleagues have done well so they can go ahead with that Bill.”

Commenting on the seeming division in the NDC, Hon. Maame Pokua Sawyerr called on the party leadership to allow for diverse views on matters that affect the party and by so doing unity will prevail to make the party stronger.

She said, vilifying persons who make comments and their views heard will only deepen the cracks in the party, saying that “everybody has the right to speak and make his or her voice heard. What we all need is unity.”

Hon Nii Lante Vanderpuye who was also in the constituency on a visit commended the MP for her commitment towards human development as well as her love for her constituents.

He urged stakeholders to rally behind Hon Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyerr in transforming the Agona East constituency.

He also tasked members of his party to work harder than before to ensure that the NDC wins the next election.

Present at the meeting were Chiefs, Assembly members, founding fathers of NDC, former appointees, and teachers among others.
