Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Rev.Jonathan Bettey has remarked that the service is enthused about the performance of pupils who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year.
He added that the pupils performed incredibly in their exams this year, saying their performance surpasses records of previous years.
Speaking on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he explained that the service has not encountered any challenge with the placement of pupils into various Senior High Schools (SHS).
‘This year, BECE as we know has been very successful, when the children were writing, we did not encounter much challenges, and as a result, the results too have been very good. We notified the entire public appreciating teachers, parents and especially pupils for a good performance this year, the placement is also running very smoothly,’ he expressed satisfaction.
He attributed the pupils’ performance to refresher courses organised for teachers and guidance sessions for pupils.
‘The Ministry of Education and GES for some time now have been looking at means through which we can improve upon learning and teaching, organising refresher courses for our teachers, modern way of teaching, materials that are supposed to be used in our schools were provided by the Ministry. For that matter, the government and the use of it in our schools have contributed tremendously towards the results that we have seen recently and I believe the guidance and advising coordinators have done their best in talking to our pupils to be serious with their academic work. All these made up the extra ordinary success this year,’ he stated.
Rev.Bettey expressed appreciation to parents, teachers and pupils for a good performance.
He indicated that the service is poised to ensure that WASSCE results will also improved.
