A Deputy National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mardi Jibril has disputed claims that the party is imposing for President John Dramani Mahama on delegates.

He told Kwame Tutu that the party is not using the unity walk to impose Mahama as the only candidate for 2020. The party he noted will give equal opportunity to anyone who may decide to contest as candidate on behalf of the party in 2020.

He said the majority of party supporters and the public in general, have yearned for the former president hence the reason why he always mount a platform at the various unity walks to talk.

When asked why the national executive has failed to partake in the unity walks, he said we have other equally important things to do and so we cannot have all our executives participating in them.

He said we do not have a candidate yet. We will go to congress and elect a candidate, he stressed.

He said if the party is in opposition, our constitution allows that we elect a candidate two years before an election to make that candidate more popular.

He made reference in 2000 after the NDC lost the election and indicated that, the late Mills who was a Vice at the time was the face of activities the NDC organized therefore what former President Mahama is doing today, is not different from past events.
