Lawyers for the detained fashion icon Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) have described as unfortunate comments by some legal practitioners on social media alluding that they are not on top of the case.
Gary Nimako, one of the lawyers for the ace broadcaster has told StarrFMonline.com that claims by Samson Lardy Ayenini (lawyer), that they should have rejected the hearing of the case before a magistrate court is baseless.
According to him, their priority was to secure the liberty of their client and not to put themselves in confrontation with the court.
“Our interest is not whether there is jurisdiction or there was no jurisdiction.
“If your client is in custody, you don’t label yourself in legal gymnastics, it doesn't make sense,” he stated.
He said they are confident in their legal procedure for securing bail for the popular MC.
KKD appeared in a Magistrate court in Accra Tuesday for the first time following his arrest and detention for alleged rape of a 19-year-old girl.
The CEO of the Finest Productions will therefore be spending the next week behind cells at the Airport Police Command.
